Research History

Thymosin Beta-4 was first discovered in the thymus gland, but its systemic roles in wound healing were only fully characterized in the late 20th century. TB-500 was developed as a more stable, smaller peptide fragment to replicate the therapeutic effects of the endogenous protein.

Studied Mechanisms

The primary mechanism involves the upregulation of actin, a protein vital for cell movement and structural integrity. By promoting actin polymerization, TB-500 facilitates cellular migration to injury sites, thereby accelerating wound closure and tissue recovery while reducing scarring.
